★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa Di San Francesco di Paola è situata nel punto più alto del paese e dal grande spiazzale si gode una vista incantevole delle colline e dei prati di Valguarnera. Inizialmente si chiamava solo Santa Croce ed era posta sempre nello stesso punto ma presentava dimensioni minori. Qualche tempo dopo fu ingrandita dal sacerdote Giuseppe Lomonaco che successivamente venne eletto parroco. Egli nel 1882 la abbellì e la ricostruì nell’attuale forma e prese il nome di San Francesco di Paola e venne benedetta dal vescovo Mons. Palermo nel 1894. Col passare del tempo furono modificate altre cose, venne realizzato l’altare in marmo nel 1894 a spese di Fra Croce e nel 1897 vennero dipinti due quadri raffigurante San Francesco di Paola e San Francesco d’Assisi. Nel 1923 venne inaugurata la statua in legno di San Francesco di Paola, opera dello scultore Stuffeseur. Nel 1953 essa fu elevata al grado di Parrocchia con primo parroco Sac. Vincenzo Giarrizzo,che l’ha abbellita con molti fregi in oro zecchino.
The Church of San Francesco di Paola is located at the highest point of the town and from the large open space you can enjoy an enchanting view of the hills and meadows of Valguarnera. Initially it was called only Santa Croce and was always placed in the same place but it had smaller dimensions. Some time later it was enlarged by the priest Giuseppe Lomonaco who was later elected parish priest. He embellished it in 1882 and rebuilt it in its present form and took the name of San Francesco di Paola and was blessed by Bishop Mons. Palermo in 1894. Over time other things were modified, the marble altar was built in 1894 at the expense of Fra Croce and in 1897 two paintings depicting St. Francis of Paola and St. Francis of Assisi were painted. In 1923 the wooden statue of San Francesco di Paola was inaugurated by the sculptor Stuffeseur. In 1953 it was elevated to the rank of Parish with the first parish priest Sac. Vincenzo Giarrizzo, who embellished it with many friezes in pure gold.
