12th century church, with frescoes and statues that promote meditation. Last night I attended an engaging mass. Gorgeous.

Gorgeous ! The ancient statue of the Madonna della Salute is to be seen, the church has a little stairway accessible to wheelchair users. The singing feels very good, a perfect acoustics, to listen to the lady who sings the Ave Maria!

The church of Santa Croce is located at the end of Corso Vittorio Emanuele, near the sanctuary of San Leopoldo Mandic. The structure dates back to the turn of the century in 1100. The facade is in classical style with some Baroque allegory. The peculiarity of the church is that it has two bell towers (similar to the churches of Slovenia, Austria and Friuli). The interior is in the Baroque style, with a single rectangular nave. The characteristics that turn this church, a jewel are: - The polychrome marble altar with two angels; - The adjoining room, but are open on specific times. It is a completely frescoed room, but they are frescos that have never been repainted, they are really original. A special thanks goes to the sacristan of the church, too kind and helpful. Beautiful baroque style church, located in Padua opposite the nearby Sanctuary of San Leopoldo. So I recommend a combined visit, which will allow you to make a comparison between the richness and superabundance of the Baroque style and the simplicity of architecture and furnishings imposed by the Franciscan rules, of the church of San Leopoldo. Both churches are united, as a dominant color, by white even if in San Leopoldo the brown of the pews and choir stands out. In the background of the church stands a large painted crucifix with the dying Jesus, the work of the famous Venetian sculptor Strazzabosco, hanging from the ceiling. For S.Croce to taste the balconies overlooking the altar worked with motifs and musical instruments, with gold decorations and the wooden inlaid choir placed behind the altar (unfortunately hardly visible) and paintings on the side altars. To underline the altar dedicated to the Holy Virgin Mary with a wooden statue of the same, crowned queen with baby Jesus in her arms, both wearing white and gold dress, of exquisite workmanship. The statue was miraculously saved from the British-American bombing of Padua in April 1944. Similarly, the same thing happened for the statue of the Madonna, placed in San Leopoldo, always struck and almost entirely destroyed by the same bombing in 1944. This statue, in plaster, is still preserved, admired and honored in the Sanctuary, with an altar dedicated to her. The statue was a lot venerated, invoked and prayed for through the intercession of graces, by Saint Leopoldo Mandic. Finally I underline that in S. Croce there is a door on the back side of the altar that leads to the chapel of the Madonna della Neve, very characteristic and intimate (unfortunately, perhaps not open to visitors, although you can always ask the priests to do so, if present. in church or sacristy). I wish you a good visit of prayer and meditation.

Beautiful parish, where the Madonna della Salute is located, which continues to work miracles to anyone who goes to her with faith. The parish priest is very good. On Sundays there are many Holy Masses.
