Slecht onderhouden, rommelig en lastig te vinden door matige wegbewijzering. Small old fortress just outside the center with a view over the bay, where you can sit quietly on a bench. Poorly maintained, messy and difficult to find due to poor signage.

Buon punto panoramico sulla baia di Laveno e anche dalla parte verso Caldè. Sulla cima della collinetta ci sono i resti di fortificazioni della fine '800 probabilmente in uso anche durante la Grande Guerra. Nel giardino si erge un monumento ai Garibaldini eretto nel 1859 e anche sulla torre e' stata posta una targa commemorativa dedicata G. Garibaldi. Pleasant excursion to half an hour's walk slightly uphill from the port of Laveno. Good panoramic point on the Laveno bay and also on the side towards Caldè. On the top of the hill there are the remains of late 19th century fortifications, probably also in use during the Great War. In the garden stands a monument to the Garibaldini erected in 1859 and a commemorative plaque dedicated to G. Garibaldi has also been placed on the tower.

Panorama stupendo sul lago con torre e cinta ancora in buono stato e ben conservate, piacevole anche il piccolo parco che porta in cima al colle. Historic and gorgeous place. One of the most fascinating areas of all Laveno. Stunning view of the lake with a tower and walls still in good condition and well preserved, the small park leading to the top of the hill is also pleasant.

S	Steve Wong on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ At the center of the Austrian defensive complex, Forte Castello, at the top of the promontory that closes the Gulf of Laveno to the north, enjoys an exceptional open view of the Alps (from the Simplon to the Gotthard) and, of course, across the lake. For the construction of the castle, the Viennese engineers had been able to reuse part of a previous medieval garrison (hence the name of the promontory, formerly known as Castello), still recognizable today in the crenellated enclosure of the outer wall. At the center of the enclosure there is a tower, also embattled, which was rebuilt a few decades after the events by Francesco Pullè (1850-1934). Pullè was an ethnographer-linguist who distinguished himself in Italy in international contexts for his contributions to oriental studies. To complete the operation on a landscape scale, Pullè decided to plant the entire hill, planting 36,000 plants. Many, despite recent transformations of the hill, remain at the crown of the memorial fort.
