The Soderini family owned numerous houses on this part of the river, as evidenced by the naming of the nearby Lungarno Soderini, where the main family palace was located, destroyed during the Second World War.
The palace of the Lungarno Guicciardini, like the other family properties, was confiscated after the ban of the family in 1494, due to its opposition to the Medici, in particular in the figure-symbol of the republican restoration by Pier Soderini.
The family suffered a sort of damnatio memoriae, so much so that even today it is impossible to find their coat of arms visible in the city, but a long time later a plaque was placed in the entrance hall of the building that recalls the friendship and hospitality of the Soderini to important figures such as Caterina da Siena, who stayed there in 1377. Other illustrious guests are also remembered such as Raffaello Sanzio, Napoleon I, Walter Scott and Lord Byron.
The current facade of the building is from the nineteenth century, with round-arched portals on the ground floor, where today there are commercial businesses, between ashlar, while the upper floors have five axes of windows with corrugated tympanums and architraves
