Sotto un punto di vista strutturale, il sacrario è formato da due piani, nei quali si trovano, oltre ai resti di circa 20.000 valorosi soldati italiani, anche le tombe di Fabio Filzi e di Damiano Chiesa, martiri di Rovereto. Ottimo Panorama si sente tensione e presenze stranebin quell'area. Mette molto soggezione. spero veramente di poter avere l'occasione di essere ancora in quella zona e poterlo andare a vedere. Racchiude le salme di 20.279 caduti italiani e austro-ungarici. Sono visibili un tratto di trincea costruita nel dicembre 1915 da reparti della Brigata Mantova, piccoli monumenti commemorativi e alcuni pezzi d’artiglieria. Nei pressi rimangono pochi ruderi e un pozzo del castello nel quale si dice abbia soggiornato il Poeta. Tra il 1922 e il 1927, furono trasferiti sul colle i cimiteri di guerra delle montagne circostanti. Quando il fascismo volle edificare grandi spazi monumentali in cui celebrare la “religione della patria”, fu incaricato del progetto del Sacrario l’architetto Fernando Biscaccianti. La costruzione poggia su due gradoni circolari situati alla sommità di un’ampia scalinata. Al piano superiore si trovano un altare, una Via crucis e le tombe degli irredentisti roveretani Damiano Chiesa e Fabio Filzi. Al piano inferiore è collocato il busto marmoreo del maresciallo d’Italia Gugliemo Pecori Giraldi e una lapide a ricordo delle medaglie d’oro della Legione Trentina. I loculi con i nomi dei caduti sono distribuiti sulle pareti del sacrario. Al momento non sono visibili neppure particolari accantieramenti per cui a parte una minima cartellonistica esterna, non si vede altro. Si fa meglio fotografarlo da lontano che venire sin quassù per nulla. Reduced opening hours and temporarily closed for maintenance work with no indication of start and end of work. At the moment there are not even any particular areas visible so apart from a minimal external signage, nothing else is seen. It is better to photograph it from afar than to come up here for nothing.
