This small sixteenth-century oratory was built following the death of Don Giovanni Maria Santi, an island parish priest who lived at the turn of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. On his death he bequeathed to the citizens a fund to be used for the sustenance of the poor and for the construction of the oratory.
The splendid 18th century interior decoration was carried out by two Cremonese painters: Vincenzo Borroni and Domenico Joli.
A must visit!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A private Catholic church, where the so called "rocaille" is well shown. The building is a late seventeen century, but the decorative works (with a particular "trompe l'oeil" effect, typical of the neoclassical style) were not concluded before the end of 1700.
The wooden lateral benches are original.
The church became a hospital during the second war of Independence -1859-, fought between Napoleon III's army and the Hapsburg soldiers.
