La Vergine Maria, completato il corso della sua vita terrena, fu assunta alla gloria celeste in Anima e Corpo», andò in paradiso in anima e corpo, perchè Immacolata.
Le parole della Bibbia (Gen 3, 19): «Tu sei polvere e in polvere ritornerai» indicano il castigo del peccato originale. Ora, la Vergine Maria fu esente dal peccato originale, quindi anche dal suo castigo.
All'interno della chiesa c'è scritto su una lapide che il 14 agosto di ogni anno in occasione dell'anniversario della consacrazione si concede 40 giorni di vera indulgenza a tutti i fedeli che la visitano recitando un “Padre Nostro”e un “Credo”.

vita, dolcezza e speranza nostra, salve.
A te ricorriamo, noi esuli figli di Eva;
a te sospiriamo, gementi e piangenti
in questa valle di lacrime.

E mostraci, dopo questo esilio, Gesù,
il frutto benedetto del Tuo seno.
O clemente, o pia,
o dolce Vergine Maria
