Small village in the heart of the Pollino National Park. Many activities to do suitable for everyone in the surrounding area. The country is nice and in summer it is full of life.

Il borgo è illuminato a metà, visto che l’abitato è esposto a Sud ed il sole viene da Est. Questo fa sì che i tetti rossi dalle tegole di argilla risaltino forte sul fondo grigio e spoglio della campagna in questo periodo invernale.. La valle in cui è situata Rotonda appartiene all’era mesozoica e neozoica. Avanti a tali epoche in era quaternaria la valle era un antico lago. Ne pleistocene e quando le acque cominciarono a ritirarsi, defluendo verso il mare, si formò l’attuale valle del Mercure. Il centro storico di Rotonda sorge su uno scoglio calcareo che faceva parte dell’antico lago, che si creò in seguito all’erosione. Suddenly, the beautiful historic center of Rotonda appears below us, a characteristic village with a medieval structure, with houses leaning against each other, perched on a spur of rock that stands isolated in the countryside. The village is half lit, since the town is exposed to the South and the sun comes from the East. This makes the red clay-tiled roofs stand out strongly against the gray and bare background of the countryside in this winter period. valley in which Rotonda is located belongs to the Mesozoic and Neozoic era. Before these epochs in the Quaternary era the valley was an ancient lake. It was in the Pleistocene and when the waters began to retreat, flowing towards the sea, the current valley of the Mercure was formed. The historic center of Rotonda stands on a limestone rock that was part of the ancient lake, which was created following erosion.
