Nacido en Nápoles en 1700, falleció en Caserta en 1773. Tuvo una prolífica vida como creador. Trabajó en Lombardía, Ancona, Roma (arquitecto de la iglesia de San Pedro) y otros lugares. Su obra maestra fue el Palacio Real de Caserta, obra encomendada por Carlos VII de Borbón. Comenzó su carrera como arquitecto dentro del campo del barroco, y con los años fue transitando hacia el neoclasicismo.
