★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Luogo religioso, un oasi di pace e serenità, l'antico monastero risalente già alla fine trecento inizi quattrocento è chiamato "Monastero delle Contesse".
La visita è emozionante i cicli pittorici di notevole e rara fattura, affreschi, dipinti e tanto altro, tutto conservato perfettamente.
I sapienti restauri lo hanno reso ancor più interessante.
Nel monastero era presente fino il 1797 la celebre opera del Raffaello Sanzio ... "La Madonna di Foligno", dipinta nel 1512. L'opera del Raffaello vi fu portata da Suor Anna (badessa del monastero) e nipote del committente.... il noto Sigismondo dei Conti segretario pontificio di almeno quattro Papi.
La Madonna di Foligno fu trafugata dalle razzie perpetrate dai "napoleonici" francesi.
Oggi la famosa opera si trova nei Musei Vaticani.
Religious place, an oasis of peace and serenity, the ancient monastery dating back to the late fourteenth and early fifteenth century is called the "Monastery of the Countesses".
The visit is exciting the pictorial cycles of remarkable and rare workmanship, frescoes, paintings and much more, all perfectly preserved.
The expert restorations have made it even more interesting.
Until 1797 the famous work of Raffaello Sanzio was present in the monastery ... "The Madonna of Foligno", painted in 1512. Raphael's work was brought there by Sister Anna (abbess of the monastery) and grandson of the client ... the well-known Sigismund of the Accounts pontifical secretary of at least four Popes.
The Madonna of Foligno was stolen by the raids perpetrated by the French "Napoleonic".
Today the famous work is located in the Vatican Museums.
