★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want to see the fish and vegable markets of Venice along with numerous resturants, bars and cafes. The fish market in particular shows the amount and variety of fish available. So it is somwhat of a surprise why in all the fish resturants we visited we were only offered Sea Bream or Sea Bass, which we have on a weekly basis at home. With beautiful John Dory, Sword Fish and Tuna to name just a few why are they not on menus or is it just what tourist want or know.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love markets. It is the heart of every city. Venice’s Rialto market is a wonder. We stayed near the Rialto Bridge, so in the morning, we would go to the market and buy fruits and some produce. The items especially fish look so fresh, no wonder the food in the restaurants tastes so good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent outdoor market with a wide choice of fresh fish, mussels, clams, lobster and shrimp. Also some lovely produce. Limited cheese, no good bread. Some vendors take only cash. Nice shops in the vicinity for wine and gourmet regional foods.
