I discovered the Mathis one year ago and I have been back several times and I have never been disapointed. The place is lovely and the roooms very comfortable indeed, and the food is FANTASTIC really.
The staff are all kind and welcoming and the boss Davide has an amazing collection of motorbikes which he will show on request.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great stop off while on the road- clean, functional and modern rooms with a big shower. Easy and secure parking directly outside. Lovely morning market in the car park across the road on Saturday morning and plenty of restaurants nearby to eat as well as in the hotel itself.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great value for money. City is close to the highway and comes very handy for a stop-over. Nice restaurant with fresh, homemade dishes. They have a 2-room suite for a family of 4 in another building (3-minute walk). Outside parking lot closed at night. I can only recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ very nice hotel, amazing restaurant, traditional with alot of antique, very clean, very helpful and kind stuff, Elena, Arianna, Agatta, and the rest of them, the owner is so helpful also. it is a 3 stars hotel, but with a 5 stars spirit. ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks to the many positive reviews here we chose to dine with our hotel hosts (we stayed at their Bastimento property), and we were very impressed.
We ordered Negronis for our aperitif, and were served enormous (as in biggest we’ve ever seen) tumblers of deliciousness for only €5 apiece!
For our primi we shared a big bowl of rabbit & white ragu over macaroni, which was just outstanding. We’re absolutely loving the rabbit we’ve been able to enjoy in Italy so far.
After another very long day walking the Via Francigena we felt we each needed our own secondi, so we ordered roasted pork shank with roasted potatoes and mushroom stuffed Guinea fowl. Both these dishes were just outstanding, accented by two glasses of locally produced house white wine. The generous pours of said wine were only €3.50/glass. Have we mentioned how much we love Italy?
Finally, we shared a sublime pistachio parfait with wild berries - so, so good.
The entire, fabulous dinner was only €69 - really great value for money. Highly recommended.
