Ma è la città di Anzio che subì i più gravi danni a strutture e abitazioni e purtroppo anche numerosi morti e feriti. La popolazione con dignità e amor patrio aspettò la pace e la ricostruzione e successivamente la Repubblica Italiana ha riconosciuto la Medaglia d'oro al Merito Civile al Comune di Anzio.
Quindi Anzio è conosciuta storicamente, "anche", per lo sbarco del 22 gennaio 1944. Anzio e Nettuno rappresentarono tuttavia i perni di tutta l'operazione bellica. Ma Anzio fu il centro abitato che subì più danni. Oltre alle vittime civili, gran parte del patrimonio edilizio della città andò distrutto in toto o in parte, tra cui Palazzo Sinimberghi sito in piazza Pia con la facciata ricoperta di pitture in graffito di Luigi Fontana. Lo sbarco ebbe termine solo il 31 gennaio, quando approdarono le ultime unità anglo-americane. In totale sbarcarono oltre centomila uomini con una gran quantità di materiale bellico. I tedeschi iniziarono a reagire con veemenza tre giorni dopo l'inizio dell'azione bellica, quando si era già costituita una solida testa di ponte attorno ad Anzio, Nettuno e nei dintorni. Ma l'obiettivo di una rapida conquista di Roma Capitale, che aveva spinto gli Alleati a progettare lo sbarco, non venne raggiunto. Roma, situata a circa cinquanta chilometri di distanza venne infatti liberata solo quattro mesi e mezzo più tardi, il 4 giugno 1944.
 The sea of Anzio and Nettuno was the scene of the landing of the Allied troops during the Second World War; strategic place for the liberation of Italy. But it is the city of Anzio that suffered the most serious damage to structures and houses and unfortunately also numerous deaths and injuries. The population with dignity and love of country waited for peace and reconstruction and subsequently the Italian Republic recognized the Gold Medal for Civil Merit to the Municipality of Anzio.
So Anzio is known historically, "also", for the landing on January 22, 1944. Anzio and Nettuno nevertheless represented the pivots of the whole war operation. But Anzio was the inhabited center that suffered the most damage. In addition to the civilian victims, much of the city's building heritage was destroyed in whole or in part, including Palazzo Sinimberghi located in Piazza Pia with the facade covered with graffiti paintings by Luigi Fontana. The landing ended only on January 31, when the last Anglo-American units landed. In total, over one hundred thousand men landed with a large amount of war material. The Germans began to react vehemently three days after the start of the war action, when a solid bridgehead had already formed around Anzio, Nettuno and its surroundings. But the goal of a rapid conquest of Rome, which had prompted the Allies to plan the landing, was not achieved. Rome, located about fifty kilometers away, was in fact freed only four and a half months later, on June 4, 1944.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mare a pochi passi da Roma, con spiagge da bandiera blu. Acqua abbastanza pulita (quasi sempre) e sabbia non chiarissima. Molti stabilimenti con ristoranti e bar ma anche spiagge libere. Consiglio al comune di Anzio di effettuare pulizie delle spiagge più frequentemente visto che, specialmente ad agosto, i secchioni risultano insufficienti causando piccole discariche sulla sabbia.
Sea a few steps from Rome, with blue flag beaches. Quite clean water (almost always) and sand that is not very clear. Many establishments with restaurants and bars but also free beaches. I advise the municipality of Anzio to clean the beaches more frequently since, especially in August, the nerds are insufficient, causing small dumps on the sand.

Der "Kantenbereich" auf dem die Häuser stehen ist recht hässlich. Meist meterhohe Betonwände au denen die Häuser thronen - 1 Stern
The beach is quite nice and pleasantly soft - 5 stars
The "edge area" on which the houses are located is quite ugly. Most meters high concrete walls on which the houses are throned - 1 star
