★ ★ ★ ★ ★ E' un luogo suggestivo, a pochi passi dal centro. Era conosciuto come "Il Gomito" perché lo Strona vi cambiava direzione creando una lanca perfetta per lo svago dei ragazzi.
La posizione fu giudicata valida anche dal Ducato di Milano che - forse a fine 1400 - vi gettò un ponte per facilitare l'accesso alla Valstrona. E dopo la strada ci fu la costruzione anche di un oratorio dall'ampio portico, luogo di sosta per il corpo e per l'anima.
C'è chi dice che il ponte sia stato consumato dal passaggio di carri sempre più pesanti: circa un secolo fa una parte è crollata.
Un ambizioso progetto (senza esito) ne prevedeva la ricostruzione.
La chiesa, invece, appare perfetta.
It is a suggestive place, a few steps from the center. It was known as "The Elbow" because the Strona changed its direction creating a perfect oxbow for the entertainment of the boys.
The position was also considered valid by the Duchy of Milan which - perhaps at the end of the 15th century - threw a bridge over it to facilitate access to the Valstrona. And after the road there was also the construction of an oratory with a large portico, a resting place for the body and soul.
Some say that the bridge was consumed by the passage of increasingly heavy wagons: about a century ago a part collapsed.
An ambitious (unsuccessful) project involved its reconstruction.
The church, on the other hand, appears perfect.
