Josaphat Leitner (1701).
Seit 2002 ist Brixen das Noviziatskloster der Franziskanerprovinz Austria.
Still in his lifetime the hl. Klara, it came in Brixen in 1235 to found the first Poor Clares monastery in the German-speaking area. The pastoral care of the sisters was taken over by the Franciscans. One year after her canonization, the patron saint of the church and the Poor Clares Monastery became St. Elisabeth elected (1236). From the medieval decor of the church was recently a significant fresco on the portal wall to light (about 1300).
The Franciscans received a hospice in 1245, which housed a small community of brothers, which was subordinated to the Austrian Order province. From the hospice still a part of the fresco in the former refectory is received, today gate area (about 1400).
During the Baroque era, the church was redesigned several times, and the two monasteries of the sisters and brothers were given their current form. The 25-part Franciscan cycle in the cloister of the Franciscan monastery dates back to the Baroque, and its author was the monastery painter Fr. Josaphat Leitner (1701).
Since 2002 Brixen is the Noviziatskloster of the Franziskanerprovinz Austria.

It is the first monastery of the Poor Clares in Germany. In 1660 the ruined monastery was rebuilt to a design by the Franciscan architect P. Ruffin Laxner in its present form and the church around 1683. Inside there is a mural with scenes from the life of St. Elizabeth and the Way of the Cross by Joseph Giner from Thaur. The crypt-shaped part of the church is also interesting. The crypt creates a special atmosphere suitable for prayer and reflection. The frescoes placed on the external wall of the church seem to be of exquisite workmanship but to be restored and preserved.
