★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Struttura facilmente raggiungibile percorrendo la SS114 e prendendo la seconda delle entrate, nella direzione Messina Catania, per raggiungere il paese di Calatabiano ossia quello in prossimità del castello San Marco, l'Istituto é facilmente visibile appena giunti in paese dove si trova la palestra ben tenuta e pulita dove é stato possibile svolgere il raduno di karate della FIKK Sicilia

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'Istituto Comprensivo G.Macherione comprende da poco anche la scuola media, primaria e infanzia di Piedimonte Etneo. All'avanguardia per attrezzature e laboratori è al passo con le esigenze moderne. Sempre attivo con i progetti PON pone la preparazione dei propri alunni ad un livello sopra la media. La struttura è dotata di impianto fotovoltaico, riscaldamenti centralizzati ed ampia aula magna dove vengono effettuate diverse attività. Anche se la struttura esterna presenta qualche piccolo problema (risolvibile facilmente) la parte interna è tenuta bene e molto pulita. Ampio spazio esterno per attività di ginnastica e per altro una serra annessa per attività florovivaistiche e agricole in genere
