The Institute is located in the Parioli neighborhood, one of the areas where the Romans of the upper-middle class live, where most of the Embassies are located, which although it is a central neighborhood is hardly frequented by tourists. You can't really know Rome, and the Romans, without knowing and understanding Parioli. This neighborhood was completed during the fifties, associated with a medium-high lifestyle, characterized by casual fashion clothes and the use of luxury products. Hence the nickname "Parioli" is used in Rome, often disparagingly, to identify a young man with that style, even if he does not live in the Parioli. A good example is the character of the student, Roberto, in the movie Il sorpasso, by Dino Risi, played by Jean-Louis Trintignant; or in Dickie Greenleaf, the co-star of The Talented Mr. Ripley, frequenter of the Italian Dolce Vita of the late 50s.

The best place in Rome to learn Spanish. More than 20 years ago I spent 3 years and without a doubt the best teacher in Spanish is Agustín Pérez. I also attended Catalan and I thank Isabel Turull for transmitting the love of this beautiful language.

A beautiful place, especially the normal early evening, to watch a good Argentine movie, in the courtyard of the institute. Nice cultural activities.

I took the exam in May for B1: the exam was not organized in Villa Albani, but in a school. In the meantime, I am beginning to tell you about the grueling delay of an hour, when we were on time. The employees were almost all snooty and rude, you think I hadn't heard when he called me (he was making the appeal), and he replied that the exam would go wrong (which did not happen). The exam had been carried out in a gym, when my other companions had taken it in welcoming places. But let's not think of the welcoming place, let's talk about the sound that echoed throughout the gym during the listening test, without understanding anything. A military expedition treatment, not even the employees were soldiers. And the thing that makes me angry is that I paid the same amount as the others (i.e. those who had taken the exam in a cozy room), a real disparity. By now I managed to get the diploma, but this experience is unforgettable, and I will not recommend it to anyone.

The Cervantes Institute is located in a splendid and very quiet building. I studied here many years ago and I had a great time with the teachers: all professional and very nice. The organized initiatives and activities are also excellent. It is the only accredited center for the DELE exam in Rome. The neighborhood is very nice, it deserves a walk before class. The only flaw: arriving by car, finding a parking space is a huge undertaking .... as in the rest of the city, alas!
