★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Authentic homemade food, really nothing else too say as it was just delicious. The staff was also autentic, specific even but still very welcoming, adding to the whole experience of toscanian home cooked meal. Definitely worth a visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great quiet authentic trattoria, Claudio doesn’t speak any English but you seem to stumble through anyway with little bits of Italian and a smile. Some of the best food we had in Italy! True tuscan experience. Entertaining lunch, not cheap but worth it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I feel compelled to post a follow up of my 5-star review from over 1 year ago. Neither the food nor the atmosphere has lost anything. The eating experience is at a much higher level than anything else you'll experience in the surrounding area, and Claudio and Maria are very welcoming to well-intentioned guests. I won't speak for guests leaving negative reviews, but their postings seem personal and not substantiated, in my humble opinion. I've eaten at Il Cassero countless times over my many visits to the area and have not had a negative experience. I note also, that I'm not Italian and have no familial relationship to the proprietors. My interest is excellent food served well, and the owners meet that criteria.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Another hidden jem of the true Tuscan cuisine. No words can explain the taste behind the typical recepie "pici della strega" or "maltagliati estivi". Important to pour good Italian wine like a "Vernaccia di San Gimignano" DOC
