★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service seems rather poor. Pizze looked quite good from far. However, our group of seven was asked to leave when we came for eating the first time (which was okay, as we had no reservation at that time). When we went by 1.5 h later, the table we wanted to sit on in the first place seemed to be untouched still, though...
Next day I sent a reservation request using the contact template on their website (got a confirmation of receipt) but never received an answer. So I tried to make a reservation by phone (actually I tried 25 times), but either no one answered or the line was engaged. So no pizze at this place for us...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Other than the huge size of the pizzas, this place doesn't have much going for it. The service is rude and slow and dishes other than pizza seem to be made with the cheapest possible ingredients. In spite of this, they are booming and often so crowded there is a long wait outside and an even longer wait inside once you order. I'm always amazed at what so many people are willing to put up with just to have some quick spectacle of a pizza that could feed four people being put in front of them...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A tough walk in the heat up to Castegnato meant we needed to find shelter and more importantly food for the kids. Il Cappellaccio opens earlier than most other places and were able to seat us without a reservation. The waiter was most accommodating to our daughter who likes pizza, but no cheese. He also mentioned that the pizzas were large. Understatement of the year! One pizza was easily enough for two...all very delicious.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a great pizza place in the suggestive Castagneto Carducci.
Pizzas are BIG, you can't imagine how big they are.
They also do main courses and a few entrées, let alone massive Italian beers, but the star is definitely their great pizza, and for a very reasonable price as well, you won't spend more than the average price.
Desserts are gorgeous, I tried the chili, chocolate and orange Semifreddo, my friends had the Sgroppino and we were not complaining at all!
Will 100% visit again!

Not listening, not bringing the water after three times.
Cleaning table needs almost 30 min.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best pizza in town and probably in the whole world. Always an experience. Service is very kind and quick. I'd recommend the pizza just for being so huge. Even bigger than the plates. And i didn't even talk about how tasty it is. 11/10. Overall a very beautiful, family friendly restaurant that's 100% worth the visit!
