Superato l’esame diventano pubblici ufficiali ed hanno il compito di verificare che le Leggi poste a tutela dell’ambiente vengano rispettate. Possono redigere verbali di accertata violazione e comminare una sanzione pecuniaria. Hanno l’obbligo di informare l’autorità giudiziaria di ogni fatto di rilevanza penale. Promuovono inoltre informazione ambientale ed aiutano gli organi competenti nella protezione civile.
Il Corpo Provinciale Guardie Ecologiche è stato formalmente costituito l’1 Marzo del 1988. Attualmente è formato da oltre 300 Gev e agisce sulla base dei poteri conferiti dalla L.R. 23/89.
 The Voluntary Ecological Security Guards (L.R. 23/89) of the Province of Bologna are citizens who have attended special training courses. Once the exam is passed, they become public officials and have the task of verifying that the laws protecting the environment are respected. They can draw up minutes of proven violation and impose a fine. They are obliged to inform the judicial authority of any criminal fact. They also promote environmental information and help the competent bodies in civil protection.
The Provincial Ecological Guards Corps was formally established on March 1, 1988. It is currently formed by over 300 Gev and acts on the basis of the powers conferred by the L.R. 23/89.
