We booked through Crystal for our skiing holiday. We had a decent sized room for the 3 of us. Our view overlooked the mountain with a balcony which was lovely. The amenities in the room were ok, water was provided, basic tea/coffee (no milk pots), shampoo/bodywash/hand soap. There is a small fridge in the room where the complimentary water is kept. The shower was great. The breakfast and evening buffet were good with plenty of choice. The children's section is the same every night. Our daughter mostly ate from the adult choices. The wine is also included but you need to make sure to ask for the still wine. Most of the waiting staff are helpful. We didn't end up using the pool etc as the times were no good (2-5 for children). We didn't get back from skiing until 4 most days. The pool is €50 per room for the week but you can pay a daily charge.

Def suggest the room upgrade. Lovely balcony, superior bathroom and more space. Food mostly good- plenty of it. Wine accompanying food very poor- fizzy red wine. You have to ask for white and it's very average. Pizza restaurant waitress really great, in fact all the staff are lovely throughout. You have to pay extra to access the pool- that isn't clear, but overall really good. Treacherous metal stairs to the slopes but the slopes are very close. We had a brilliant holiday.

This is the first time I've stayed at this hotel, or visited Passo Tonale since Covid struck. I've stayed at the Grand Paradiso many times before and I have written a couple of reviews so this is a 'not quite post' covid review. We  stayed  from Jan 29-Feb 5th 2022, all arranged through Crystal Ski. The hotel is as comfortable as ever. We usually opt for an upgrade from the standard room because the extra money buys more space which can be useful if you end up confined to barracks with a ski injury as I am (dislocated shoulder). Judging by the dining room and airport transfers occupancy at the hotel is being restricted at the moment due to social distancing. I base this on the relatively low number of people in the dining room which looks 50% occupied but Crystal are only showing availability for the expensive rooms. The dining room is, like the rest of the hotel well staffed and the food has gone up to the next level. Starters and desserts have always been very good but main course could sometimes be mediocre. That's no longer the case, the chief is doing a great job and the waiters are really friendly and efficient. Moving on to the bar the staff doing a great job here too, possibly too good because when we walked into the bar tonight they knew our order,  who had the expresso and who the cappuccino, I won't mention the spirits but they knew. Returning to the rooms ours is clean  warm and spacious with lots of hot water for a bath or shower so no complaints here. Now a bit about the resort. The pistes are a short stair climb from the hotel. Snow has been in short supply this season but thanks to snow making most, but not all, pistes are open. Overall I reckon snow conditions on the  pistes are better than previous years. This is probably due to lower numbers skiers and low average temperatures. The resort was busy on Sunday but much quieter during the week so don't be put off if its busy at the weekend, it will probably be much quieter during the week. Finally I checked out the accident recovery facilities and can confirm that they are good. It probably only took them 90 minutes to recover me from the slope, relocate my shoulder, go through all the insurance stuff and return me to the hotel. Please don't feel obliged to try this out yourself.

In advance of our trip, the hotel had confirmed childcare as part of of half board booking however when we arrived there was initially no childcare for the first two days. They then provided a lady with no English and no qualifications or experience of providing childcare. Finally a lady with experience was provided however we received a call to collect our 2 year old son shortly after dropping him off as he was crying….when we collected him his nappy hadn’t even been changed. When checking out I requested that a discount be considered as a result of this failure by them to provide professional and experienced childcare as committed to however the team, even post escalation to senior management, refused to offer any discount despite this situation having had a very negative impact on our family holiday. Instead we were told that we should be very thankful as we had received a room upgraded despite the fact that we never asked for this. Professional childcare was far more important to us than a fancier room but this appeared to be lost on the management team. Our kids also both cut their feet on a nail sticking up from the floor of what was sold as the best room in the hotel! A very disappointing experience, my family will certainly not return to this hotel in the future nor could I recommend this hotel to another family.

Well located for what we wanted. Had a few minor issues which were resolved beyond expectations hopefully because we weren't complaining just pointing them out. Service and friendliness were exceptional. Lovely staff with great humour. Great selection of food and always able to find something delicious. Don't forget to leave room for pudding! Great little apres ski bar again served by helpful attentive staff. Can't fault this place and the lovely people running it. Felt genuinely welcome.
