Oh no, these are not the names of some of the many and often idle users of social networks. And not even the members of any Facebook or Instagram group, where they pass the time by discussing exclusively cats, French nails or the secrets to making a successful mayonnaise. Instead, they are nurses of the highest profile. In Gamma dial they are part of the afternoon work group on even days, under the supervision of Renata (head nurse), Franca Sito (nephrologist), and with the relevant impromptu work of Raffaele Meo (nephrologist Cardarelli). Together they represent a workforce that has few equals in the healthcare field. There is no doubt about it. If I support it - with strength and conviction - it is thanks to my past academic training, and also thanks to direct family experience. But the air you breathe here is not the cold and colorless one of Swiss clinics. Far from it! Here, on the other hand, there are all the sounds (of the voices), the colors (of the uniforms) and the flavors (of the fantastic tomato pizzas that the legendary driver Walter knows very well where to buy on special occasions) of the most beautiful Naples. A "tableau vivant". A living picture of the best Naples. Of that Naples that the whole world envies us, because it reaches very high levels of quality in its activities, but with an apparently light and easy-going step and action. Just look at the way they all move between the patients' chairs. The confident gestures. The special expertise. And the patience put in place in the most difficult and complicated cases. Moreover, those who know something more, do not hide it, but make it available to others and potential substitutes alongside, who put themselves in a circle and watch and learn. A kind of dance, where those who know in turn give; and whoever does not know yet receives. In short, we are in the presence of continuous and permanent training, which raises assistance to more than extraordinary levels. The attention to detail is extreme, always high, and the gaze on the numbers provided by those digital pumps is never distracted. But everything flows and happens according to a Qoèlet in Neapolitan sauce, where there is a time for everything. To work very seriously. And also to "play". A time - the latter - necessary and almost therapeutic. Because dialysis patients are very special patients. Their life depends on those machines, and on the people who know how to operate them, because they do it with science and conscience, on the basis of current data and anamnesic data. Not only that ... Dialysis patients know they have had a half life in their lot, since the true and full life is in the days following dialysis, and not in those of filtration. But here in Gamma dial, in the afternoons of those even days of the week, where the weight of their living could sometimes reach unbearable levels, those sick people who are so special know they can find a safe, yet welcoming, and often joyful environment. As I write, I see Claudio sitting next to one of the sick (an 84-year-old "young man"); he has a fistula that is difficult to reach, but ultimately that experienced nurse will get the better of it. All the other patients have already started and all seem stable. However, Dr. Franca Sito wanders around among the armchairs, and with her watchful gaze she has the situation under her calm and skilful control. It is also the most suitable time for Adele and Angela to retrieve the Christmas tree and decorations from the warehouse, and set it up at supersonic speed in the waiting room, with the taste and elegance that only female sensibilities can achieve. And voila, the "game" is done! To create an exceptional place for health every time: family and professional together.
