★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Residenza del GOI dal 1980, fu costruita nel XVII sec. da Plautilla Bricci, la prima architetta italiana e forse del mondo. Distrutta durante i combattimenti del 1849 fu poi restaurata e donata a Giacomo Medici, che aveva combattuto in questa zona. Ieri eccezionalmente aperta al pubblico: perfettamente tenuta ed ottimamente curata.
GOI residence since 1980, it was built in the 17th century. by Plautilla Bricci, the first Italian and perhaps world architect. Destroyed during the fighting of 1849 it was then restored and donated to Giacomo Medici, who had fought in this area. Yesterday exceptionally open to the public: perfectly maintained and well cared for.

... e lo faccio sotto il tiglio plurisecolare, là, nella landa... Nei luoghi che furono teatro di eroici combattimenti, l’ultimo baluardo dei difensori dell'Urbe, l’emblema degli ideali dei quali il Risorgimento si fece portatore.
Il Vascello, danneggiato pesantemente durante l'assedio dei francesi alla giovane Repubblica di Garibaldi, è stato ricostruito. Così, possiamo farci un'idea della particolarità della costruzione, un curioso e stravagante edificio barocco realizzato da Plautilla Bricci, la prima architetta della modernità.
Da via di S. Pancrazio, dava l'idea di una nave adagiata sopra uno scoglio, con le false rocce del Bernini che ne caratterizzavano il basamento e il muro di cinta.
Personalmente, oggi mi intriga di più il viaggio nel simbolismo massonico di una Roma esoterica e misteriosa, nel quartier generale del Grande Oriente d’Italia, l’Ordine numericamente più rappresentativo d’Italia.
E tutto questo grazie al FAI.

From via di S. Pancrazio, it gave the idea of a ship lying on a rock, with the false rocks by Bernini that characterized the base and the surrounding wall.
Personally, today I am more intrigued by the journey into the Masonic symbolism of an esoteric and mysterious Rome, in the headquarters of the Grand Orient of Italy, the numerically most representative Order in Italy.
And all this thanks to FAI.
