★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In direkter Nähe zur Kirche Santa Maria Assunta in nördlicher Richtung befinden sich mit bis zu 6 m hohen Mauern die Reste einer ausgedehnten römischen Festungsanlage, die hinsichtlich ihrer Größe einzigartig in der Provinz Como ist. Die ursprüngliche Ausdehnung des Gebäudes erstreckte sich bis hin zur nahen Kirche Santa Maria Assunta. Die genaue Bedeutung des Gebäudes ist nicht endgültig geklärt. Es handelte sich aber mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit um eine Befestigungsanlage zur Kontrolle des Handelsverkehrs auf dem See als auch der alten Handelsstraße Antica Strada Regina. Zum besseren Verständnis der Anlage sind einige Informationstafeln ausgestellt.
In the immediate vicinity of the church of Santa Maria Assunta in a northerly direction, there are the remains of an extensive Roman fortress with walls up to 6 m high, the size of which is unique in the province of Como. The original extension of the building extended to the nearby church of Santa Maria Assunta. The exact meaning of the building has not been finally clarified. However, it was most likely a fortification to control trade on the lake and the old Antica Strada Regina trade route. A few information boards have been issued to help you understand the system better.
