★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Si trova fuori le mura, in piazza della Vittoria, al centro dei giardini pubblici dedicati a Robert Baden-Powell, fondatore dello scautismo. Venne realizzata nel 1825 insieme alla Porta Leonina che Papa Leone XII volle edificare in sostituzione di un'imponente architettura a forma di cassero eretta nel 1297 insieme alla cinta muraria medievale. Porta e fontana furono progettate dell'architetto Luigi Landini, ex religioso, uno degli ultimi abitanti degli eremi di Monteluco, dove aveva istituito una scuola di belle arti.
La fontana dei Delfini nel 1932 fu spostata nel sito attuale quando il comune, procedendo alla sistemazione urbanistica della zona, ricavò i giardinetti su piazzale dei Tigli. Questo spostamento probabilmente la salvò da distruzione certa il giorno che la Porta Leonina venne fatta saltare dalle truppe tedesche in ritirata nel 1944. L'attuale, denominata porta San Gregorio o porta Garibaldi, fu ricostruita nel 1947 dagli architetti Mario Zocca e G. B. Milani. La vasca inferiore, che fino a qualche decennio fa ospitava alcuni esemplari di pesci rossi, è composta da lastre e blocchi di pietra, ha forma ottagonale e reca in evidenza lo stemma del comune di Spoleto. La colonna centrale, posta su basamento triangolare, è ornata con motivi fogliari e termina in cima con un'altra vasca a catino; ai lati è abbellita da tre grandi esseri mostruosi identificati con dei delfini.
 It is located outside the walls, in Piazza della Vittoria, in the center of the public gardens dedicated to Robert Baden-Powell, founder of scouting. It was built in 1825 together with the Porta Leonina that Pope Leo XII wanted to build to replace an imposing formwork-shaped architecture erected in 1297 together with the medieval walls. The door and fountain were designed by the architect Luigi Landini, a former religious, one of the last inhabitants of the Monteluco hermitages, where he had established a school of fine arts.
The fountain of the Dolphins in 1932 was moved to its present site when the municipality, proceeding with the urban planning of the area, obtained the gardens on piazzale dei Tigli. This move probably saved it from certain destruction on the day that the Leonine Gate was blown up by the retreating German troops in 1944. The current one, called Porta San Gregorio or Porta Garibaldi, was rebuilt in 1947 by the architects Mario Zocca and G. B. Milani. The lower tank, which until a few decades ago housed some specimens of goldfish, is composed of slabs and blocks of stone, has an octagonal shape and bears the emblem of the municipality of Spoleto. The central column, placed on a triangular base, is decorated with leaf motifs and ends at the top with another basin; on the sides it is embellished by three large monstrous beings identified with dolphins.
