m	massimo ceci on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un bel faro, semplice, ben fatto, all'imbrunire si può assistere (dall' esterno) all'accensione della lanterna, sempre molto suggestivo. Nelle vicinanze c'è un area archeologica di un antico porto romano. Peccato che dall'altra parte insiste invece uno stabilimento particolare per la forma ad esedra ma ormai decadente, così vicino sminuisce la magia del faro A beautiful lighthouse, simple, well made, at dusk you can watch (from the outside) the lighting of the lantern, always very suggestive. Nearby there is an archaeological area of an ancient Roman port. Too bad that on the other hand there is a particular establishment for the exedra shape but now decadent, so close it diminishes the magic of the lighthouse

The farò is located inside the Adriano pier of Romanesque origin dating back to the 2nd century AD. c. built when Lecce was a Roman colony at the time of the emperor Hadrian.

Non è un posto molto curato, ci sono diversi lidi ben tenuti e spiagge libere. Il Faro è un punto di riferimento. San Cataldo is the beach of Lecce, on one side the sea and on the other the pine forest. It is not a very well-kept place, there are several well-kept lidos and free beaches. The Lighthouse is a landmark.
A	Antonio D'ostuni on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una torre a forma ottagonale alta 23 metri costruito a metà dell’800 e una struttura in muratura, che in origine era destinata ad alloggio dei fanalisti e magazzino, oggi sede dell’ufficio marittimo di San Cataldo. La struttura si erge in una insenatura che ospita i resti di un antico molo del II secolo d.C., voluto dall’imperatore romano Adriano. Originariamente, infatti, questo punto di approdo era chiamato Porto Adriano. Il suo nome attuale, secondo la leggenda, deriva da Cataldo un monaco irlandese che, tornando da Gerusalemme e diretto a Taranto, naufragò in quest'area e si salvò grazie all'aiuto dei pescatori del posto che li ringraziò con battute di pesca miracolose. La costruzione di un faro a San Cataldo fu proposta nel 1863 dal Consiglio Provinciale di terra d'Otranto al Ministero dei Lavori Pubblici. Il primo progetto fu presentato nel 1865; in attesa della costruzione del faro, attivato nel 1897, fu installato un fanale provvisorio sopra un fabbricato comunale. In un viaggio a Lecce nel 1797, Ferdinando IV di Borbone, il re salito sul campanile del Duomo, “vide il porto di San Cataldo, promise di ripararlo e di aprire una strada in linea retta da Lecce in detto luogo”… concludiamo degnamente questa strada! A 23-meter high octagonal-shaped tower built in the mid-19th century and a masonry structure, which was originally intended to house the lighthouse keepers and warehouse, now home to the maritime office of San Cataldo. The structure stands in an inlet that houses the remains of an ancient pier from the 2nd century AD, commissioned by the Roman emperor Hadrian. Il luogo peggiore del Salento. Un peccato. The lighthouse is impressive, unfortunately the context is not well maintained, poor maintenance, rather dirty beach and the beaches are from the 1970s. The worst place in Salento. A shame.
