★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il piccolo borgo di Farnetodentro le mura dell'antico maniero risalente al X sec. ha mantenuto intatta la sua struttura e da cui si gode un magnifico panorama.
Luogo strategico, dove nel XV secolo vi soggiornarono gli eserciti di Francesco Sforza e di Sigismondo Malatesta e luogo di preghiera, dove venne fondata l'Abbadia Benedettina di S. Tommaso in Foglia, che divenne chiesa rinomata e ricca in particolare nei secoli XII e XIII.
Nell'abitato si trova una grande e rustica piazza chiusa da case in mattone e la chiesa di San Martino (nella foto sopra, sullo sfondo) che è ben conservata e ornata da un curioso campanile.
Le mura circondano ciò che resta dell'antico Castello di Farneto che, fondato sulle rovine del tempio di Priapo, fu sottoposto alla giurisdizione dell'Abbadia della quale seguì le sorti. Oggi rimangono parte del caseggiato e le mura che fanno da terrazza per chi vuole ammirare la bella campagna circostante.
Farneto si dinstingue anche per aver dato i natali a B. Michelina Metelli (1336) e alla nobile famiglia dei Farneti, fra cui il giureconsulto Aurelio, podestà di Firenze (1513).
 The small village of Farnetodentro the walls of the ancient manor dating back to the 10th century. it has kept its structure intact and offers a magnificent panorama.
Strategic place, where in the fifteenth century the armies of Francesco Sforza and Sigismondo Malatesta stayed there and a place of prayer, where the Benedictine Abbey of St. Thomas in Foglia was founded, which became a renowned and rich church in particular in the XII and XIII centuries .
In the inhabited area there is a large and rustic square enclosed by brick houses and the church of San Martino (in the photo above, in the background) which is well preserved and decorated with a curious bell tower.
The walls surround what remains of the ancient Castle of Farneto which, founded on the ruins of the temple of Priapus, was subjected to the jurisdiction of the Abbey of which followed the fortunes. Today they remain part of the building and the walls that act as a terrace for those who want to admire the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Farneto also distinguished itself for having given birth to B. Michelina Metelli (1336) and to the noble Farneti family, including the jurisconsult Aurelio, podestà of Florence (1513).
