Lovely quiet and small-scale campsite at an agriturismo. The family are incredibly hospitable and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. You can enjoy good food, vegetarian, vegan or with meat on request. We came for 2 days and there were 6. Beautiful walks in the area and horseback riding is also recommended!

If you're looking for a place in the middle of nowhere surrounded by great scenery and a tranquil atmosphere, then you should definitely add Il Mandorelto to your list. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the pleasant Alessandro who actually came to greet us at the car park, offered to take our luggage inside and offered us some refreshments upon arrival. After taking the luggage to our room, he asked us if we were going to eat there in the evening and asked about any food allergies we may suffer from. We had dinner there in the evening and the food was to die for starting from the sumptuous parmigiana served with great goat cheeses and grilled vegetables, the pasta with ricotta and almonds and ending with chicken breasts cooked in excellent wine and......almonds! The grand finale that ended our meal was their homemade almond ice cream. Il Mandorleto is named after their main industrial activity: almonds....and boy their almonds are great! Needless to say, they're bio almonds free from any pesticides and other health-threatening chemicals that are used in heavily industrialised produce. When it comes to lodging. the agriturismo has two offerings: a small cabin for two or normal guest rooms. The wood cabins are really sweet and equipped with a small kitchen (including a fridge) while the rooms are the guest rooms you'd expect in a hotel comprising of a bedroom and an en-suite bathroom. While the cabins are equipped with air conditioners, the rooms aren't and our first night was a bit rough for me as I felt hot (despite that the agriturismo is high up above the ground and the air is fresh......but I'm used to sleeping in lower temperatures thanks to our cherished a/c). When I told Alessandro the morning after that the room was still hot (for the record, I had discussed air conditioning with the management at the booking stage, but they assured me that it gets fresh at night, and it does) Alessandro promised me that he'll see to this issue. That same evening, as I walk into the room, I found an air cooler and it did help the situation a lot. My only complaint - and I didn't draw their attention to it as I knew that they couldn't resolve it there and then) was that the mattress in our room needs to be changed. It's clearly worn out. To be fair, our friends stayed in a cabin and they were very happy with their mattress.....and the facilities in the room. Otherwise, everything is near-perfect: the scenery, the hospitality (the owners really do care about their customers' satisfaction), the food, the location......... One word of advice to people with accessibility issues: they do have accessible rooms and public restrooms, and the place is quite wheelchair friendly. The only thing you need to know is that the terrain leading to the swimming pool is a bit rugged as it's not a flat surface. However, you can still make it there. One other thing to point out - and I want to be clear that for me this is NOT an issue - is that this is not a hotel-like lodging place with a 24/7 manned reception. In fact, there is no lounge or reception on the premises. This did not affect our experience at all, but I feel the need to point this out to people who may need these facilities. Before leaving the agriturismo, we book an hour horseriding service that they provide. I strongly suggest that people do this. It's cheap (€15 per person for 1 hour) and the scenery is breathtaking. Definitely a memorable experience! Would I consider going back to Il Mandorleto? Definitely yes. Would I recommend it? For sure.

I couldn't be more positive about this beautiful place - I felt increadibly welcomed, the people are extremely kind and the pool seemed great, even though it was too cold for a swim. They also have a restaurant where they offer vegetarian and vegan options - I'd love to try when I come around next time!
