L	Luca Maria Rossi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'esigenza di dotare la città di Como, di un "Teatro Popolare" da contrapporre al prestigioso Teatro Sociale, su costituita nel 1908 una Società, che incaricò l'architetto Federico Frigerio, con la collaborazione dell'ingegner Andrea Valli a progettarlo. I lavori iniziarono il 1/07/1909 di un edificio multifunzionale, con struttura in calcestruzzo: Teatro, Cinema, Caffè Chantan, Bar, Ristorante, Albergo, e, l'Arena Teatrale esterna, collocata posteriormente verso la Via Alfredo Oriani. In occasione dell'Innaurazione il 14 settembre 1910, fu rappresentata la "Bohème" di Giacomo Puccini. Negli anni seguenti, il Politeama, assolse le funzioni per la Lirica, la Prosa, Cinema, Circo (1914/1936, con cadenza annuale), e, veniva spesso usato anche per comizi, assemblee, e riunioni pubbliche varie. Negli ultimi decenni venne utilizzato esclusivamente come Cinema, eccetto dal 20/05/1985 al 15/04/1988, per indispensabili adeguamenti di sicurezza, con la Chiusura definitiva nell'agosto 2005, in attesa di una nuova ristrutturazione completa (sett.'19), si è messo mano alle parti pericolanti. The need to equip the city of Como with a "Teatro Popolare" to be contrasted with the prestigious Teatro Sociale, a company founded in 1908, which commissioned the architect Federico Frigerio, with the collaboration of the engineer Andrea Valli to design it. The works began on 1/07/1909 of a multifunctional building, with a concrete structure: Theater, Cinema, Caffè Chantan, Bar, Restaurant, Hotel, and, the external Theater Arena, located at the back towards Via Alfredo Oriani. On the occasion of the Inauguration on September 14, 1910, Giacomo Puccini's "Bohème" was represented. In the following years, the Politeama, fulfilled the functions for the Lyric, Prose, Cinema, Circus (1914/1936, on an annual basis), and was often used also for meetings, assemblies, and various public meetings. In the last decades it was used exclusively as a Cinema, except from 20/05/1985 to 15/04/1988, for indispensable security adjustments, with the final Closure in August 2005, pending a new complete restructuring (Sept. 19 ), he took up the unsafe parts.
