★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Diocesesan Curia of Vallo della Lucania is the official portal of the Catholic Church in Italy suffragan of the archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, belonging to the Campania ecclesiastical region. In 2014 it counted 158,000 of the baptized out of 163,800 inhabitants. It is governed by the bishop Mons. Ciro Miniero.
Today the diocese derives its origin from the ancient diocese of Paestum. The first historical evidence of the existence of a bishop for this site goes back to the Roman synods organized by Pope Simmaco in 499 and in 501, where Bishop Fiorenzo took part.
