★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ho fatto volontariato presso il Cottolengo per un po' di tempo. Mi sono trovato benissimo, soprattutto con Suor Marilena, gentilissima. Ma molto più perché ho imparato tanto: questa casa di accoglienza vuole essere una famiglia per gli anziani e persone con disabilità e malattie degenerative; per le suore è più importante l'umanità e l'amore o passare del tempo ascoltando gli ospiti, piuttosto che rifare i letti nel minor tempo possibile o imboccare bene. E questo gli ospiti lo sentono. Nessuno ci pensa mai, ma anche noi che siamo così giovani e spensierati, molto probabilmente finiremo la nostra vita in quella condizione lì. E allora posso dire grazie che ci siano posti così.
I volunteered at Cottolengo for a while. I had a great time, especially with Sister Marilena, very kind. But much more because I learned so much: this shelter wants to be a family for the elderly and people with disabilities and degenerative diseases; for nuns, humanity and love are more important, or spending time listening to guests, rather than redoing the beds in the shortest possible time or taking it well. And this the guests feel it. Nobody ever thinks about it, but even we who are so young and carefree, will most likely end our lives in that condition there. And then I can say thank you that there are places like this.
