★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Congrega della Carità Apostolica è una istituzione di beneficenza, privata e di ispirazione cristiana, laica e indipendente. È nata a Brescia nel 1535, prima che fosse celebrato il Concilio di Trento, ma le sue origini risalgono alle confraternite caritative cittadine del Duecento. Proprio per questa ragione, a reggere la Congrega è ancor oggi una assemblea di sessantadue Confratelli. Gli incarichi sono gratuiti.
Attualmente, sotto l'insegna del Pellicano - antico emblema del Sodalizio - si raccoglie un articolato sistema di realtà e di servizi: sono infatti, ormai, otto le fondazioni che nell'ultimo secolo si sono via via aggiunte all'istituzione "capogruppo".
La rilevante entità delle erogazioni di aiuti alle famiglie, rappresentata pubblicamente nel Bilancio sociale, e il frutto dei tremila colloqui con persone in difficoltà che ogni anno avvengono in media nella sede di via Mazzini. A ciò si somma, secondo le specificità degli statuti di ciascuna fondazione, il finanziamento di altri enti non profit nelle province di Brescia e di Mantova. Una casa di riposo (rsa) e cinquanta minialloggi protetti per gli anziani, due residenze per studenti e circa quattrocento abitazioni offerte a canoni "popolari" nel Comune di Brescia completano il quadro delle attività.
Per alimentare la propria azione, la Congrega e lefondazioni amministrate dispongono di un patrimonio formatosi nel tempo grazie alla generosità di molte generazioni di donatori. Brescia e i bresciani ripongono fiducia nella Congrega da quasi cinque secoli e la rinnovano ancor oggi. Si declina così l'impegnativa sfida di corrispondere ai segni dei tempi con una carità aggiornata e operosa.

Congrega della Carità Apostolica is a charitable institution, private and of Christian inspiration, secular and independent. It was born in Brescia in 1535, before the Council of Trent was celebrated, but its origins date back to the city charitable brotherhoods of the thirteenth century. Precisely for this reason, the Congregation is still governed by an assembly of sixty-two confreres. The assignments are free.
Currently, under the banner of the Pelican - an ancient emblem of the Sodality - there is a complex system of realities and services: in fact, there are now eight foundations that have gradually been added to the "parent company" institution over the last century.
The significant amount of aid disbursements to families, publicly represented in the Social Report, is the result of the three thousand interviews with people in difficulty that take place on average every year at the headquarters in via Mazzini. To this is added, according to the specificities of the statutes of each foundation, the financing of other non-profit organizations in the provinces of Brescia and Mantua. A retirement home (rsa) and fifty sheltered mini-apartments for the elderly, two student residences and about four hundred houses offered for "popular" rent in the Municipality of Brescia complete the picture of the activities.
To feed its action, the Congrega and the administered foundations have a patrimony formed over time thanks to the generosity of many generations of donors. Brescia and the people of Brescia have placed their trust in the Congrega for almost five centuries and are still renewing it today. Thus the demanding challenge of responding to the signs of the times with an updated and active charity is declined.
