La comunità è stata fondata nel 1909 a monsignor Giacomo Maria Radini Tedeschi, allora vescovo di Bergamo. È composta da confratelli che vivono in comunità e confratelli che vivono all’esterno, ma condividono la spiritualità e alcune iniziative lungo l’anno. Tra i confratelli illustri annovera Angelo Roncalli, Giovanni XXIII, ora Santo. La comunità ospita la scuola vocazioni giovanili, comunità propedeutica del seminario. La biblioteca è dedicata al vescovo fondatore e custodisce anche la biblioteca dell’Istituto sacerdotale Sant’Alessandro, con diversi manoscritti e incunaboli.
