Si comprendono non solo le immagini descritte nel Cristo si è fermato ad Eboli, ma anche quelle della civiltà contadina. Le poche nature morte dipinte da Levi esprimono la miseria di quei luoghi. A	Adolfo Gagliardi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bellissimo panorama ma le case con gli occhi restaurate hanno perso la loro caratteristica " espressione" ; dopo la visita del paese ci siamo recati nel bar lungo la strada principale dove, dopo aver consumato, abbiamo chiesto informazioni per la strada del ritorno al titolare che, con fare molto seccato e con aria di sufficienza ci ha risposto a malapena. Unica pecca che pesa ben due stelline: domenica ore 15:30 nessun bar aperto per poter prendere un caffè. Un vero peccato dato il traffico di ciclisti e bikers che transitano in quelle ore. Very nice and well kept country from which you can enjoy an incredible view on the characteristic gullies. The only flaw that weighs two little stars: Sunday at 15:30 no bar open to have a coffee. A real shame given the traffic of cyclists and bikers that pass in those hours.

La descrizione dei luoghi e le storie raccontate da Carlo Levi nel suo romanzo sono altissime pagine di letteratura. Anche se è prosa, possiamo affermare che è pura poesia..
