★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il nome del paese di Remanzacco, comune in provincia di Udine, deriva da un toponimo romano in -acu da Romatius o da Romanicius segno che il luogo era frequentato da popolazioni preromane celtiche.
Remanzacco viene nominato per la prima volta nel 1192. Il paese faceva parte della gastaldia di Cividale amministrata in locale da una Vicinia ma sotto la giurisdizione del Capitolo di Cividale. Nel 1321 la località viene citata per una controversia per la definizione di confini tra il comune ed alcuni signori dei luoghi vicini.
Qui il 1º agosto 1509 si combatté nei pressi delle campagne di Orzano uno scontro tra le truppe veneziane e un distaccamento dell’esercito austriaco, che assediava Cividale, che ebbe la meglio.
Fu nel 1811 che con la riforma francese dell’amministrazione alcune frazioni di Remanzacco storicamente legate a nobili castellani, Ziracco ed Orzano, entrarono a far parte del suo comune. Mentre Cerneglons legata a Udine fu aggregata nel 1818. Nel 1866 entrò a far parte del Regno d’Italia.
Per far fronte alla diffusione della pellagra sotto l'impulso del sindaco e medico del paese dott. Carlo Ferro e del parroco don. Pietro Braidotti, l’8 maggio 1883 i capi famiglia riuniti costituiscono il Forno Rurale, forti di un contributo statale. La proposta verrà approvata e il forno sociale entrerà in funzione il 1º gennaio 1885, secondo in Friuli dopo quello di Pasian di Prato.
Tra il 1884 e il 1886 si completa la linea ferroviaria Udine-Cividale, che attraversa Remanzacco. Proprio su questa linea, il 22 novembre 1938 avviene un disastro ferroviario: crollano due arcate del ponte sul Torre, durante il passaggio di un treno viaggiatori. Precipitano nel torrente la locomotiva e tre carrozze, provocando la morte di 18 passeggeri e tre ferrovieri, ferendone 15, muore annegato un militare giunto a portare i primi soccorsi .
The name of the town of Remanzacco, municipality in the province of Udine, derives from a Roman toponym in -acu from Romatius or from Romanicius, a sign that the place was frequented by pre-Roman Celtic populations.
Remanzacco was mentioned for the first time in 1192. The town was part of the gastaldia of Cividale administered locally by a Vicinia but under the jurisdiction of the Chapter of Cividale. In 1321 the locality was cited for a dispute for the definition of boundaries between the municipality and some lords of the nearby places.
Here on 1 August 1509 a clash was fought near the countryside of Orzano between the Venetian troops and a detachment of the Austrian army, which was besieging Cividale, which had the upper hand.
It was in 1811 that with the French reform of the administration some hamlets of Remanzacco historically linked to noble castellans, Ziracco and Orzano, became part of its municipality. While Cerneglons linked to Udine was aggregated in 1818. In 1866 it became part of the Kingdom of Italy.
To cope with the spread of pellagra under the impulse of the mayor and doctor of the town Dr. Carlo Ferro and the parish priest don. Pietro Braidotti, on May 8, 1883 the heads of the family gathered together form the Forno Rurale, thanks to a state contribution. The proposal will be approved and the social oven will come into operation on January 1, 1885, the second in Friuli after that of Pasian di Prato.
Between 1884 and 1886 the Udine-Cividale railway line was completed, crossing Remanzacco. On this line, on November 22, 1938, a railway disaster occurred: two arches of the bridge over the Tower collapsed during the passage of a passenger train. The locomotive and three carriages fall into the stream, causing the death of 18 passengers and three railway workers, injuring 15, a soldier who came to bring first aid drowns.
