★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Comune dell'alto vastese, conta circa 3000 abitanti che aumentano nel periodo estivo, deve il suo nome alle cave di gesso ormai dismesse, presente nelle carte geografiche pontificie del 1100, da visitare il borgo antico con una chiesa del 1400 purtroppo offesa più dai cattivi restauri che dall'incuria del tempo, presenti diversi bar e panifici con i prodotti tipici, un parco cittadino ed una pineta da cui godere una splendida vista della Maiella.
