★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La frazione di Pian è in posizione incantevole, con la chiesa su uno sperone che sovrasta la val Fiorentina, e una vista superba sul Pelmo . Intorno, il piccolo cimitero con le croci in ferro battuto, secondo l'uso austriaco (prima della Grande Guerra qui era Austria). Molto belle anche le case del '600, verso la chiesa, una delle qua,i è adibita a Museo degli usi e costumi locali. Da vedere anche la frazione di Canazei, da dove, oltre al Pelmo, si vede anche la parete nord del Civetta.
The hamlet of Pian is in an enchanting position, with the church on a spur overlooking the Fiorentina valley, and a superb view of the Pelmo. Around it, the small cemetery with wrought iron crosses, according to Austrian custom (before the Great War it was Austria here). The houses of the 17th century are also very beautiful, towards the church, one of them is used as a museum of local customs and traditions. Also worth seeing is the hamlet of Canazei, from where, in addition to the Pelmo, you can also see the north face of the Civetta.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una tappa imperdibile per chi ama la montagna. Dalla chiesetta si gode una vista spettacolare di tutta la vallata verso Selva di Cadore e la Val Zoldana, con il monte Pelmo sullo sfondo. Dal Belvedere sulla strada che scende verso Caprile si vedono contemporaneamente il Civetta e il Pelmo e sembra quasi di poterli toccare. Il paesino ha case tradizionali e fienili ben conservati e decorati con fiori di montagna. La chiesetta, con l'incantevole cimitero e la posizione panoramica, è un luogo speciale.
Con 29 tornanti si sale al passo Giau, uno dei più belli delle Dolomiti, con una visuale che non ha pari sulle cime dolomitiche più importanti (Marmolada, Gruppo del Sella, Averau, Nuvolau, Col di Lana e tutta la Vallata di Cortina con le sue montagne).
An unmissable stop for those who love the mountains. From the church you can enjoy a spectacular view of the whole valley towards Selva di Cadore and Val Zoldana, with Mount Pelmo in the background. From the Belvedere on the road that goes down to Caprile you can see the Civetta and the Pelmo at the same time and it almost seems like you can touch them. The village has traditional houses and well-preserved barns decorated with mountain flowers. The church, with its enchanting cemetery and panoramic position, is a special place.
With 29 hairpin bends you climb to the Giau pass, one of the most beautiful in the Dolomites, with a view that has no equal on the most important Dolomite peaks (Marmolada, Gruppo del Sella, Averau, Nuvolau, Col di Lana and the whole Cortina valley with the its mountains).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Questa è l'ALTA VIA DELL'ORSO,un anello di una diecina di km che inizia e finisce nella piazza del paese. Molto ben tenuto il sentiero, accessibile anche ai meno esperti ( a patto di averci gambe buone, fino alla forcella è TUTTA IN SALITA e neanche poco! ). Bellissimo paesaggio,si incontra due volte la stessa gradevolissima cascatella. Alla forcella abbiamo visto il primo di una serie di formicai XXL, quello della foto è alto più o meno 80 cm! Ombra per il 90% del percorso. Alla sosta di larzonei ci si ripara sotto una tettoia chiusa ai lati con tanto di panche e tavolo pieghevole, tutto in legno : ottima per mangiare e riposare, vista incantevole.
This is the ALTA VIA DELL'ORSO, a ring of about ten kilometers that begins and ends in the town square. The path is very well maintained, accessible even to the less experienced (provided you have good legs, up to the saddle it is ALL UPHILL and not a little!). Beautiful landscape, you meet the same pleasant waterfall twice. At the fork we saw the first of a series of XXL anthills, the one in the photo is more or less 80 cm high! Shade for 90% of the route. At the Larzonei stop, you can take shelter under a canopy closed on the sides with a lot of benches and folding table, all in wood: excellent for eating and resting, enchanting view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bellissimo piccolo paese sopra a Caprile e molto vicino alla bella Alleghe.
Il paese ha una vista spettacolare sul Monte Civetta e le verdi foreste circostanti nonché due notevolissime antiche case del XVI e XVII secolo molto ben conservate. Spettacolare anche il cimitero storico accanto alla bella Chiesa di Santa Lucia con il suo loggione (in lingua ladina "solar") destinato in antichità agli uomini per assistere alla messa.
Da non perdere assolutamente.
Beautiful little town above Caprile and very close to the beautiful Alleghe.
The town has a spectacular view of Mount Civetta and the surrounding green forests as well as two very remarkable old houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, very well preserved. The historic cemetery next to the beautiful Church of Santa Lucia is also spectacular with its gallery ("solar" in Ladin language) used in antiquity for men to attend mass.
Absolutely not to be missed.
