★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un sito archeologico molto interessante, dove sui resti di una città romana fondata nel I secolo a.C. insiste una motta su cui sorgeva la città medievale di Salpi.
Grazie al prezioso lavoro degli archeologi dell'Università di Foggia e dei college Davidson (North Carolina, USA) e McGill (Montreal, Canada), sono stati riportati alla luce ambienti di queste due realtà stratificate nel tempo.
Salapia può essere visitata soltanto in estate (giugno-luglio) durante le campagne di scavo (Info su Facebook). Sarebbe bello se un giorno il sito potesse essere valorizzato e proposto al pubblico.
A very interesting archaeological site, where on the remains of a Roman city founded in the 1st century BC. insists a motte on which stood the medieval city of Salpi.
Thanks to the precious work of archaeologists from the University of Foggia and the Davidson (North Carolina, USA) and McGill (Montreal, Canada) colleges, environments of these two realities stratified over time have been brought to light.
Salapia can only be visited in summer (June-July) during the excavation campaigns (Info on Facebook). It would be nice if one day the site could be enhanced and proposed to the public.
