★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Villa Farnese is one of the historical highlights of Rome. Today it houses the French embassy so it is hard to arrange a visit, but it is possible. The beautiful architecture and art collection is well worth the trouble. A special treat is provided by the view from the back of the villa, overlooking the Tavere, with the St. Peter dome just so visible to the right. Magical.

Though the place is vintage furnished, chairs are modern and functional;
it screens newly released films as well as classic ones, with a special eye on independent releases and international film festivals. Original version English dubbed films are sometimes available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is definitely one of the best movie theaters in Rome. Their movie festivals are always full of surprises. From historic avant- guard to contemporary directors, to country thematic film festivals. They used to screen cinéma d' essai as well. Yesterday I saw a non movie about the making of a movie which was never realized. One of my favorites film festivals was the Spanish film festival, which occurred a couple of years ago. Before that I discovered a few great movies from Latino american Directors which do not normally appear in regular commercial movie theaters.
