La facciata risale al tardo Seicento quando la Chiesa fu sottoposta a un energico intervento di restauro che finì per riunire qui il meglio dell’arte del tempo, tra Campania e Basilicata.
Interesting place of worship, also called "the church of the hundred angels", in the historic center of Atena Lucana, was dedicated to Santa Maria Maggiore while venerating St. Biagio and St. Ciro, respectively patron and protector of the town.
The façade dates back to the late seventeenth century when the Church underwent an energetic restoration that ended up bringing together the best of the art of the time, between Campania and Basilicata.
