The church dedicated to Santa Maria Maggiore is very beautiful. It houses many pictorial works including the Nativity, the vision and the ecstasy of San Francesco (Colelli), the Immaculate Conception, Santa Chiara, the evangelists, the agony in Gethsemane and the Sorrowful Trinity. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa è parrocchia dal 1867. È conosciuta dai lametini come "chiesa di San Francesco" poiché anticamente esisteva un convento di Francescani. Ora è dedicata a Santa Maria Maggiore. La chiesa è a due navate: la navata principale è dedicata a Santa Maria (Madonna Assunta, o degli Angeli) mentre l'altra è dedicata al Crocifisso. Nella prima navata, a sinistra, si trova una tela della Natività, l'altare con la statua della Madonna del Carmelo e l'altare con la statua dell'Immacolata Concezione. Sopra l'altare principale, si trova la statua dell'Assunta, le statue di due Angeli e le statue di Santa Chiara e Santa Rosa da Viterbo. Poi a destra, il quadro della Madonna di Pompei e di Gesù Misericordioso. Nella seconda navata, a destra, si trova l'altare con l'artistica statua lignea di Santa Rita da Cascia, patrona della parrocchia insieme a Santa Maria, festeggiata con una solenne processione il 22 maggio, poi l'altare con la statua del Sacro Cuore di Gesù e l'altare con la statua di Sant'Anna, e infine, al centro, la statua del Crocifisso, antichissimo. A sinistra, dei dipinti della vita di Santa Chiara e il quadro di San Giuseppe Moscati. Ai lati del Crocifisso si trovano le statue di San Francesco d'Assisi e di Sant'Antonio di Padova. Nei soffitti diverse opere pittoriche come l'Immacolata, e i quadri di "San Francesco in estasi" e "La visione di San Francesco" del Colelli. Una bellissima chiesa, una delle più antiche di Nicastro.
The church has been a parish since 1867. It is known by the Lametini as "church of San Francesco" because in ancient times there was a Franciscan convent. Now it is dedicated to Santa Maria Maggiore. The church has two naves: the main nave is dedicated to Santa Maria (Madonna Assunta, or degli Angeli) while the other is dedicated to the Crucifix. In the first nave, on the left, there is a painting of the Nativity, the altar with the statue of the Madonna del Carmelo and the altar with the statue of the Immaculate Conception. Above the main altar, there is the statue of the Assumption, the statues of two Angels and the statues of Santa Chiara and Santa Rosa da Viterbo. Then to the right, the painting of the Madonna of Pompeii and Merciful Jesus. In the second nave, to the right, is the altar with the artistic wooden statue of Santa Rita da Cascia, patroness of the parish together with Santa Maria, celebrated with a solemn procession on May 22, then the altar with the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the altar with the statue of Saint Anne, and finally, in the center, the statue of the crucifix, very ancient. On the left, some paintings of the life of Santa Chiara and the painting of San Giuseppe Moscati. On either side of the Crucifix are the statues of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony of Padua. In the ceilings various paintings such as the Immaculate, and the paintings of "San Francesco in estasi" and "La vision di San Francesco" by Colelli.
