1970 (realizzazione chiesa)
La chiesa fu costruita negli anni 70 per sostituire la chiesa vecchia situata all'interno del complesso di torre mare, ora diruto. Fu costruita dal Demanio e proprio nei primi mesi del 2019 è stata donata dal Comune di Bernalda alla Diocesi di Matera - Irsina.
DescrizioneLa chiesa di San Leone Magno a Metaponto è ubicata in Piazza Giovanni XXIII nel borgo di Metaponto. All'esterno si presenta con lineamenti semplici e decori in mattonelle effetto pietra sulla facciata principale. All'interno la chiesa segue i lineamenti semplici dell'esterno con una pavimentazione in piastrelle antiche di ceramica e la zona del presbiterio risulta rialzata con un gradino.

The church was built in the 70s to replace the old church located within the complex of the sea tower, now in ruins. It was built by the State Property and in the first months of 2019 it was donated by the Municipality of Bernalda to the Diocese of Matera - Irsina.
Description The church of San Leone Magno in Metaponto is located in Piazza Giovanni XXIII in the village of Metaponto. On the outside, it has simple features and stone-effect tile decorations on the main facade. Inside, the church follows the simple features of the exterior with an ancient ceramic tile floor and the presbytery area is raised with a step.
