The church has an altar and a stoup from the corazzo abbey inside, under the pavement. You can see through the walkable windows the ancient tombs of the noble waterfalls that were entitled to this type of burial.

Fu distrutta tre volte per i due terremoti del 1638 e del 1783 e per l'incendio appiccato dai Francesi all'inizio dell'800. La forma attuale risale infatti proprio al 1813. Il campanile fu poi aggiunto nella seconda metà dello stesso secolo: nel 1852 infatti il re Ferdinando II venne in visita a Soveria Mannelli, e il parroco di allora gli chiese di finanziare la costruzione di un campanile. Il re accettò, e vendendo alcuni territori della Sila, poté finanziare il progetto. La cupola presente sul campanile fu invece un dono fatto da Emilio Pascuzzi (Soveritano emigrato in America) nel 1938. È l'unica chiesa della diocesi di Lamezia Terme ad essere totalmente affrescata e ospita al suo interno un altare in marmi policromi proveniente dalla vicina Abbazia di Corazzo. L'altare ha guadagnato il titolo di Patrimonio Nazionale nel 1910. Mother church of Soveria Mannelli, built for the first time in the 16th century and initially private property of Baron Passalacqua. It was destroyed three times by the two earthquakes of 1638 and 1783 and by the fire started by the French at the beginning of the 19th century. The current form dates back to 1813. The bell tower was then added in the second half of the same century: in 1852, King Ferdinand II visited Soveria Mannelli, and the parish priest at the time asked him to finance the construction of a bell tower. The king accepted, and by selling some territories of the Sila, he was able to finance the project. The dome on the bell tower was instead a gift made by Emilio Pascuzzi (Soveritano emigrated to America) in 1938. It is the only church in the diocese of Lamezia Terme to be totally frescoed and houses an altar in polychrome marble from the nearby Corazzo Abbey. The altar earned the title of National Heritage in 1910.
