★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mi aspettavo una interessante chiesa, invece sono stato impressionato per quanto il luogo sia suggestivo. Veramente una gradita sorpresa, un quadretto che riempie la vista.
Sia la Chiesa di San Giovanni sia il Battistero sono bellissime espressioni romaniche. Da non perdere questo angolo di Italia nascosta.
I was expecting an interesting church, instead I was impressed with how suggestive the place is. Truly a welcome surprise, a picture that fills the view.
Both the Church of San Giovanni and the Baptistery are beautiful Romanesque expressions. Do not miss this hidden corner of Italy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Vigolo Marchese è una piccola frazione di Castell'Arquato e qui è presente il bel complesso intitolato a San Giovanni Battista.
E' formato dalla bella basilica romana risalente al 1008 ed il suo battistero di forma cilindrica, molto belli.
Da vedere.
Vigolo Marchese is a small fraction of Castell'Arquato and here is the beautiful complex named after San Giovanni Battista.
It is formed by the beautiful Roman basilica dating back to 1008 and its very beautiful cylindrical baptistery.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Splendido complesso, esternamente oserei dire intonso,mentre l'interno della chiesa è stato tutto intonacato.
Il Battistero è un vero gioiello, con la fonte battesimale ricavato dal capitello corinzio romano.
All'interno della chiesa si possono ammirare le spoglie di Sant'Ippolito, ed un'acquasantiera con una testa antropomorfa

The Baptistery is a true jewel, with the baptismal font obtained from the Roman Corinthian capital.
Inside the church you can admire the remains of Sant'Ippolito, and a font with an anthropomorphic head

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La basilica romanica è antichissima, risale a poco dopo l'anno mille e insieme al suo meraviglios battistero rotondo, forma un complesso meraviglioso. In antichità, faceva parte del complesso anche un importante monastero. La basilica è poco conosciuta ma nel vagare verso la più conosciuta Castel'Arquato, è obbligatorio fermarsi e visitarla.
The Romanesque basilica is very ancient, it dates back to shortly after the year one thousand and together with its marvelous round baptistery, it forms a wonderful complex. In ancient times, an important monastery was also part of the complex. The basilica is little known but in wandering towards the more famous Castel'Arquato, it is mandatory to stop and visit it.
