M	Michele Longo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesetta si trova a pochi passi dalla stazione di Venegono Superiore. Si attiva da varese nord e da Milano Cadorna. La chiesetta risale al XV secolo al 1433. A causa di decadimenti della struttura interni ed esterni, tra il 1982 e 1985 vi furono dei restauri importanti che ci mostrano dei bellissimi affreschi riferibili al XV-XVI secolo. La chiesetta si può visitare durante la giornata del Fai di primavera. The church is located a short walk from Venegono station. It is activated from varese north and Cadorna. The church dates from the fifteenth century to 1433. Because of decay of the internal and external structure, between 1982 and 1985 there were important restorations that show us some beautiful frescoes referring to the XV-XVI century. The church can be visited during the day of the FAI Spring.

La conferma della data di costruzione è data dal monogramma di Padre Pio che si trova in un dipinto all'interno. Dopo il declino della famiglia De Conti la chiesa rimane abbandonata. Il degrado della chiesa continuò fino a quando nei primi anni del 1600 il Cardinale Federico Borromeo ne sancirono la sistemazione , pena la demolizione. La popolazione nonostante i lavori per la costruzione della nuova chiesa la restaurarono. La chiesa riacquista la sua importanza solo nel XVIII secolo. Subì un ulteriore decadimento nei primi anni del 1800 e fu abbandonata. Fu di nuovo restaurata e ampliata per volere di Adele madre dell'avvocato Carlo Taccheo Brière e futuro sindaco del paese che eseguì i lavori anche con l'appoggio dei villeggianti. Nel 1900 dopo aver acquistato un piccolo pezzo di terreno viene ampliato l'oratorio, il progetto prevede la realizzazione di una nuova abside, due cappelle laterali, un ripostiglio e un campanile e la conseguente demolizione della cappella originaria. Le pitture sono state conservate perchè antiche e per essere riportate sulle pareti nuove. La cappella in stile Lombardo è stata costruita con gli stessi canoni. Negli anni 80 la chiesa viene restaurata per recuperare le caratteristiche dello stile originario in tardo romanico. In 1900, after purchasing a small piece of land, the oratory was enlarged, the project envisaged the construction of a new apse, two side chapels, a closet and a bell tower and the consequent demolition of the original chapel. The paintings have been preserved because they are ancient and to be shown on the new walls. The Lombard-style chapel was built with the same canons. In the 80s the church was restored to recover the characteristics of the original late Romanesque style.
