The church of S. Antonio, better known as "del Convento", was strongly desired by the Prince of Scordia, Antonio Branciforte, at the request of his brother Ottavio (c. 1599-1646), bishop of Cefalù and Catania, whose half-length it is located in the tympanum of the church portal.
