La costruzione di una chiesa più grande si era resa necessaria per l'aumento della popolazione paganichese. La facciata è datata 1665 a levicata cortina di conci con alla destra un lacerto scultoreo di pavoni del sec. XII reinserito nella tessitura lapidea. Gravemente danneggiata dal terremoto del 6 Aprile 2009, attualmente dopo la ricostruzione della navata centrale e delle navate laterali, si sta ricostruendo il coro. Il termine dei lavori è previsto nel 2021. The current Church of Santa Maria Paganica was built after the smaller church of the same name, dated 873 AD, was demolished in 1648 .. The construction of a larger church was necessary due to the increase of the pagan population. The façade is dated 1665 with a smooth curtain of ashlars with a sculptural fragment of peacocks of the century on the right. XII reinserted into the stone texture. Severely damaged by the earthquake of April 6, 2009, currently after the reconstruction of the central nave and side aisles, the choir is being rebuilt. The completion of the works is expected in 2021.
