Se andate ad Avola vale la pena visitarla e se avete la fortuna di trovarvi il giorno della festa del patrono, appunto Santa Venera, è molto bello assistere alla processione. V	Vincenzo di pietro on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa di Santa Venera di Avola si affaccia su piazza Teatro. Il monumento a croce latina è consacrato alla patrona di Avola. Di interesse, all’interno dell’edificio sacro, è l’iconografia sull’abside nella quale è raffigurato il martirio di Santa Venera. L’iconografia è opera di Costantino Carasi. Sul lato sinistro dell’edificio è possibile ammirare la cappella dedicata alla santa, nella quale sono presenti numerosi affreschi a tema floreale; nella cappella è custodita la statua di Santa Venera, realizzata in legno e rivestita in oro e argento. La statua è opera di Raffaele Abbate e Emanuele Puglisi Caudullo. Da vedere all’interno del monumento sono le opere raffiguranti San Crispino e Crispiniano con l’Immacolata e una tela nella quale è raffigurata Santa Marta. La tela nella quale è raffigurata Santa Marta era un tempo collocata all’interno della Chiesa di Santa Marta extra moenia. The Church of Santa Venera in Avola overlooks Piazza Teatro. Delle quattro chiese poste alle porte della Città, questa di Santa Venera è posta al lato sud, alla strada che riprendendo la Via Elorina portava all'imbarco di Calabernardo. Oggi è aperta al culto dopo lunghi anni di restauri, sia all'interno che all'esterno, che partiti in ritardo di anni non sono ancora terminati del tutto. Beautiful baroque church, built together with the city on the site that was chosen after the 1693 earthquake that destroyed the Val di Noto.
