L'asinello attende davanti alla Chiesa Santa Maria di Gesù l'arrivo di Giuseppe, Maria e Gesù accompagnati dall'Angelo e seguiti dalla banda musicale. Dopo la messa il corteo si sposta verso la chiesa Madre dove li attendono tre soldati di Erode che hanno ricevuto l'ordine di uccidere Gesù. Nel momento in cui i tre soldati sguainano le spade l'angelo li ferma con la sua esclamazione "Deh, fermate la barbara mano". I soldati chiedono perdono e si ritirano. Solo allora la Sacra Famiglia può accedere alla tavolata imbandita dalla popolazione davanti alla Chiesa e Gesù tracciando il segno della croce la benedice e benedice anche il pane con forme di parti del corpo o di bastone.
