D	Donatella Casamichela on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Non conoscevo questa chiesa nonostante ero già stata a Melilli diverse volte.La chiesa è molto bella con dei dipinti antichi favolosi .L ho visitata nel periodo di Natale dove c'erano in quell' occasione molte teche esposte con presepi provenienti da diverse parti del mondo.Da non perdere. I did not know this church although I had already been to Melilli several times. The church is very beautiful with fabulous old paintings. I visited it during the Christmas period where there were on that occasion many display cases with cribs from different parts of the world .Not to be missed.

R	Roberto Zappulla on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa Madre dedicata a San Nicolò, sorge presso la Piazza Matrice, è il più antico luogo sacro di Melilli, nonchè una delle prime Chiese di origine normanna della Sicilia sudorientale. L’interno della Chiesa presenta tre Navate disposte a Croce latina. Qui possiamo ammirare la bella volta lignea in cui è posta la tela del pittore catanese Olivio Sozzi che raffigura “Il Trionfo della fede” (risalente al 1762). The Mother Church dedicated to San Nicolò, located in Piazza Matrice, is the oldest sacred place in Melilli, as well as one of the first Norman churches in south-eastern Sicily. The interior of the church has three naves arranged in a Latin cross. Here we can admire the beautiful wooden vault where the canvas of the Catanese painter Olivio Sozzi is placed, which represents "The Triumph of Faith" (dating back to 1762).

Sono custodite all'interno pitture a olio di grande pregio. Gli architravi dei portali della facciata principale mostrano simboli della chiesa e di Melilli. Su quello a destra, tre sacchetti d'oro gettati da San Nicola a un vicino che non poteva sposare le tre figlie per la miseria. Complimenti belli davvero e la chiesa con i suoi addobbi molto suggestiva. A parte che è bella pure strutturalmente, poi quel lampadario enorme fantastico da vedere!!!! Ancora si possono ammirare ne vale la pena! Wonderful. I loved it! I have been over Christmas. The cribs of the world are fantastic. Really nice compliments and the church with its very suggestive decorations. Aside from being structurally beautiful, then that huge chandelier fantastic to see !!!! Still you can admire it is worth it!
